HealthKick Huron is winding down after 10 years of successful local Healthcare Workforce intervention! This website tells the story of this exciting program, its achievements, and the positive impact upon local Healthcare services that it has made over the last decade. HealthKick was about people! It linked the recruitment of healthcare professionals with the training of home-grown youth in the healthcare field. Click here to view the Final HealthKick Legacy Report.
Below are just a few of HealthKick’s important accomplishments:
Youth Engagement with programs such as MedLINCS (UW program partner), Spectrum Healthcare Career Forum (Foundation for Education Perth Huron program partner) and Career Connections (West Huron Care Centre program partner).
Rural Healthcare Work Placements that offered secondary students the opportunity to work in the healthcare sector to gain skills and knowledge about the careers in healthcare that they were pursuing. It also provided local healthcare employers with future recruitment candidates.
Local Post-Secondary Education/Training since 2005 HealthKick partnered with Georgian College to offer programs in Practical Nursing, Food Service Worker, Personal Support Worker as well as post-graduate nursing skills courses.)
Community Engagement was a partnership with the healthcare providers through the Healthcare Human Resources Committee to collaboratively action strategies for retention and training of valuable current staff and professionals. The Huron Perth Healthcare Inspiration event was supported through HealthKick.
Thank you to all the participants, the organizations and the professionals that made this award winning, unique and valued project such a success. Remember that the impact of this project is just starting to be realized. Many former participants are still pursuing their dreams and we hope that their dreams will bring them home!
